Young people in the city have taken steps towards a more healthy lifestyle thanks to the success of a new scheme.
The Healthy Schools Plus Programme, has spent the last 18 months working with young people in the city teaching them how to eat healthily.
Pupils at nearly 50 schools are signed up to the Healthy Schools Plus Scheme with an aim to have them all join by next year.
Experts have also helped each school develop their own ways to get children more active by doing things like yoga, massage sessions and cycling proficiency.
The first set of schools to achieve the Healthy Schools Plus were recognised earlier this week at an awards ceremony Bristol City Council House on College Green.
Hugh Annett, Director of Public Health, commented: "It is vital that children have the opportunity to develop healthy lifestyles from an early age.
"Bristol is at the forefront of the Healthy Schools Plus pilot and we are delighted to recognise the schools' achievements. In the longer term, healthier children will lead to improved adult health and reduced pressure on public health services.
"We hope to extend the programme further to give more schools the opportunity to get involved with this innovative work.
