Queen SquareA day before the World Cup final, Bristol's Fan Park is hosting soccer activities for the footballers of the future.
Young people, who see themselves as the next David Beckham or who just love the game, are being invited to come along to Queen Square to take part in a whole host of football-related competitions and activities.
Bristol City Council has organised the day packed full of events for Soccer Jam.
Young football lovers can test their talents in different football zones, including: pana soccer; beat the goalie; freestyle and Futsal. There's also plenty of live music and giveaways.
Plus representatives from local football clubs will also be on hand so anyone interested in joining a team can find out more.
Stephen Wray Bristol's Bid Team Leader for the 2018 World Cup, said it's a great chance for young talent to get involved with a club: "This is a project we've ran now for a couple of years. It's an opportunity to bring the two county football associations and many of the league and voluntary clubs in the city together in one place. It celebrates football and makes sure as many young people as possible have the opportunity to join football clubs."
He went on to tell us why they've called it Soccer Jam: "Because it's that broader range of skills. It's not just football as we know it in the UK. It's the Brazilian Samba football, its street soccer, it's all the skills and they tend to use that wider international name."
Anyone who attends today is also being asked to dig out any old and unwanted clean football strips. They're being collected for Coaching for Hope, which is a programme that uses football to create better futures for young people in West and Southern Africa. As well as providing training over there, the coaches also provide HIV awareness for young people. All the kits will be donated to Bristol's twin city, Beira in Mozambique.
All the fun kicks off from 11am until 3pm.
