
It's reported councillors gave the plans to re-develop the county ground on Neville Road the go-ahead last night.
Bosses say to meet with the England cricket board's requirements for a ground to host international games, they've got to develop.
Top of their list is to increase the capacity from 4,000 to 20,000.
Last night it's being reported those plans were approved which also include facilities to turn the venue into a world class media and conference centre.
Outline plans for accomodation for 350 students were also given the green light.
There have been concerns from people living nearby though that on match days there'll be an even bigger increase in traffic creating parking problems and congestion.
