Plans To Reward Recylers In Bristol Shelved

Officials at Bristol City Council say it's disappointing they wont receive funding to reward those who recycle - but the plans are not being dropped altogether.

The authority bid to take part in a pilot scheme with Defra to give residents cash incentives to reduce their waste  - but the organisation is no longer running the initative.

Councillor Gary Hopkins told us they would still be looking in to the idea themselves

Despite concerns over cuts to public spending - Councillor Hopkins argued the scheme would help to reduce what they spend on land fill tax even further.
