Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for information following an incident in a park last night.

The alleged attack happened at around 8pm on Monday July 26, at Kingsgate Park in Yate.

The park has been closed by officers investigating the assault and it's unlikely to reopen until tomorrow.

Detective Inspector Jill Kells said: "Incidents like this are very rare so I would urge members of the community to remain calm and not to speculate about this incident.

"Investigations are very much underway and crime scene investigators remain at the scene. I would now urge anyone who may have been in the park yesterday afternoon and may have noticed or heard anything suspicious to contact us."
